Tempted to exaggerate or be fraudulent in your claim? Think again!

A Claimant Taxi Driver from Essex has pleaded guilty to being in contempt at the High Court in London after admitting that he was fraudulent in pursuing his claim for personal injury compensation.

The Claimant was pursuing a claim for personal injury compensation following his involvement in a road traffic accident back in 2006.  The Defendant  insurers, Aviva,  initially offered the taxi driver the sum of £17,500 to settle his claim for compensation on the basis that the injuries sustained by him  in the accident forced him into early retirement. Will it cost me anything to make a Claim for Personal Injury?

Be in time with your claim – don’t miss out!

You may or may not be aware that there are strict time limits on bringing a claim for personal injury compensation. 

The general position is that you must have either settled your claim for personal injury compensation or have started court proceedings in respect of that claim on or before the third anniversary of the incident that caused your injuries.  This is known as the limitation period.   If the third anniversary of the incident that caused your injuries passes without your claim being settled or court proceedings commenced then your claim will become what is known in technical terms as “statute barred”. Make sure you obtain full and fair compensation

Dealing direct with an insurance company when you have been injured in an accident could mean you do not receive enough compensation.

Some insurance companies when they are notified by their insured that an accident has taken place will use the details given to them of the innocent party to the accident by their insured and may contact them direct, wary that in addition to any claim for vehicle damage there is likely to be a claim for personal injury compensation.  Depending on the severity of the injuries the claim could be quite significant.  Their purpose for contacting the injured party direct is to try and settle the personal injury aspect of the claim as quickly and cheaply as possible.
